Banana Bread

Not an elegant staged photo, but I only post recipes that I use and love. Recently I was visiting an old friend who is an excellent hostess and baker. Despite needing knee replacement surgery (if you're reading this today, Terri, I hope you are continuing to improve), she was able to make several pastries and a raspberry custard pie. YUM!
Well, I'm not a big banana bread fan but this one that Terri made was just the best. The recipe is from Canadian Living and its a keeper.

Banana Bread
1 cup mashed banana, very ripe
1 cup white sugar
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup sour cream
2 eggs, beaten
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt

Combine bananas, sugar, oil, sour cream and eggs. Mix thoroughly.
In a separate bowl mix together dry ingredients, then combine with wet.
Mix very lightly but incorporate everything.
Pour into prepared loaf pan and bake for 55 to 65 minutes at 325F.
Cool in pan and turn out.
*update - I just made this again and put it in 3 mini loaf pans and baked for about 45 minutes at 335F. I have a convection oven.

August Swap Card

This might be a new record. We exchanged these cards in mid-August well ahead of the month end deadline and I'm just getting around to posting them now. Enjoying all the activities as summer continues into the Fall here in Southern Ontario.
My card was a scrap lift. I really liked the idea of using the cloud die as a border. The Green Pastures stamp was a permanent gift from Keri. We sometimes give each other stamps that we've grown tired of or no longer enjoy.
So I made these cards...
using MFT Green Pastures...

Keri used a neat new Fall Set from Sunny Stamp Studio with a slider and an acorn die set....
I might have to borrow this one. I can see it being very handy to make some interesting cards.
Here are the materials that she used..

A Parade of Pets and People

As you all know, my Charity of choice is Autism Dog Services. This year, I didn't host my fundraiser opting instead to participate and support A Parade of Pets and People being held this Sept 15 at Soper Park in Cambridge. My goal is to raise $1000 and you can help me meet this goal.
$1000 will bring another puppy into the program and start its journey towards helping a family navigate through life with a special needs child.
Here's the link if you want to support my walk for ADS:

The Walk is open to the Public so stop on by and say hi to all our doggie friends between 10 and 2. Hope to see you there.

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge

I was able to complete a second challenge this week. Go ME! It was definitely not feeling too Fall-like here but its always fun to break out the supplies for a new season. Sadly, I did not seem to have any critters or other fall-like stamps with me on vacation but I DID have a great Fall paper pad and my trusty background die from MFT. Love how quickly these cards some together.
I am entering the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - FALL
