Happy New Year and new Kitchen

 It's taken me awhile to get back on the Blog. I've been working quite a bit and started a huge renovation on Oct 5th. As any of you know, that have gone through this, there is so much prep work to be done both before and after and so much cleaning. I finally got the final piece installed on Thursday(microwave) so now I can show off the final project. (I'm still waiting on a new door for the Dishwasher-there was a small dent)

Of course, the reno just continued growing. I ended up doing the whole main floor, then I switched all the electrical outlets in the house to white (my house is circa 1966) so it needs a lot of updating. Then I redid the flooring in the Main bath, then I needed a new toilet. I was only going to carpet the stairs and then the hallway, then I decided to do the whole upstairs (pending), then I decided to paint the Master bedroom before carpet. Then I wanted new windows and door in garage and laundry room. Well you can see how things have gone but I have put my foot down and no more renos for awhile. I'm blaming Covid for being trapped in my house.

So many decisions, take the wall out? Yes, vinyl plank vs hardwood? Vinyl, Dark cabinets? Goudy black, Countertop: Quartz, Layout? Light fixtures, Hardware, Appliances, Cabinet style?

I could go on forever. But I had an amazing Kitchen designer; Randy Kraemer of Kraemer Kitchens and a terrific Contractor J&H Contracting, Waterloo.

I just LOVE every aspect especially the open concept but I still got my pantry and privacy from the street by maintaining a small wall separating the living room.

Spring?

After having such a mild, relatively snowless winter, we have been hit with a couple storms. Imagine, having a possible snow day in April. Yesterday, we had quite a dump and tomorrow the forecasters are calling for another 15 cm..

These two don't seem to mind a bit but I don't know how they manage to find the mud under all that snow.

It was quite deep on the shrubs but the sidewalks were clear by this afternoon so we were able to walk and that's all the dogs care about.

I was kind of late starting my yearly afghan project so I'm glad its still cool enough to have a large warm project on your lap..

Better set the alarm. Could be a slow drive into work tomorrow.

FOCUS

That's my word for 2013. I tend to multi-task and flit from one project to the other. Otherwise, known as a procrastinator and a non or slow-completer of projects. So this year, I am going to be different. I am going to choose one project and stick with it. Or mostly.

FOCUS is also how I have been taught to train the dogs. If they are focused on you, the rest will follow.

 

I'm going to not load up everything I own in scrapbooking supplies everytime I go to a day crop but I will be organized and compact. I will read ONE book at a time. Or I will try. I am making good progress so far.

  

I have pulled out several projects that have been waiting for some attention and finishing them.

When I take classes, I never seem to actually complete everything so before I move forward, I have pulled them out and I am working on those also.



I rarely design my own things because I always feel I have "other" stuff to work on. I have found a couple challenge blogs that I am interested in and I hope this will help me to "FOCUS" on something specific that I want to create and get the ball rolling for 2013.
